 Gwrhyd Pennant has such a high flexural strength and such low water absorption that is stands above most other materials in terms of technical properties. These directly relate to the amount of maintenance that will be required.
By choosing technically better quality stone such as Gwrhyd issues of lichen growth and failing flags will not become maintenance issues.
Harder and denser stone such as Gwrhyd are easier to clean and do not hold dirt in the voids of the stone. Stains such grease, coke, wine and oil are also easier to remove as they will sit on the top of the stone and not be absorbed into it.
 As long as Gwrhyd Stone is installed in accordance with British Standards then it should be durable and last many years and when cleaned look as good as the day it was laid.
